<span style="font-size: 11pt"> Dollar’ dealer dies after mistakenly being shot by cops

One of two men said to have been mistakenly shot by the police during an attempted robbery in Montego Bay, St James on Saturday has succumbed to his injury.
Kemar Brown, 23, also known as "Bird Seed" of Upper King Street who was an informal foreign exchange or "dollar" dealer, was in the process of changing some foreign currencies for a customer when the customer allegedly pulled a firearm.
A tussle reportedly ensued between the two men when the police who soon arrived on the scene, allegedly opened fire hitting Mr. Brown in the upper body and another man in the hand.
Passersby held the gunman and beat and cut him.
All three injured men were taken to hospital where Mr. Brown died, the injured man was treated and release and the alleged gunman was admitted in critical condition.
It is not yet clear if the Bureau of Special Investigations has begun a probe into the incident.
<span style="font-weight: bold">Last Wednesday, the fatal shooting of a mentally challenged man and a businessman by the police,</span> sparked a fiery protest in one section of the city.
The cop said to have been involved has since been removed from front line duty.

Meanwhile, there is more controversy surrounding Saturday's robbery attempt.
It is understood that <span style="font-weight: bold">the man who attempted to rob Mr. Brown is a security guard employed to a prominent security company in Montego Bay.
He had reportedly borrowed the weapon from a colleague allegedly under the guise of carrying out a side job. </span>
The man is expected to be charged with robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The company to which he is employed is also reportedly being investigated.
And the Montego Bay Police plan to increase security across the city in the wake of reported plans by residents to demonstrate.
